STAFF COUNSEL
Position Location: Hybrid
The Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel (OCDC) is the agency established by the Supreme Court of Missouri to handle ethical complaints involving lawyers. In this interesting and important position, staff counsel investigates allegations that a lawyer has violated the Rules of Professional Conduct and prosecutes those cases where the lawyer’s misconduct poses a threat to the public or to the integrity of the legal profession.
Desired Skills and Experience
- An understanding of effective investigative practices
- Proven pleading and litigation skills based upon trial experience is highly desired
- Successful candidates will have at least 5 years of experience in the practice of law
- Appellate experience is a plus

The OCDC is located in Jefferson City, but welcomes qualified candidates from across the state. Some travel required. While there are times when Staff Counsel would be expected to be in Jefferson City, this position allows for some remote work.

Annual starting salary ranges from $80,000 – $92,000, but actual salary will be commensurate with experience.
While the OCDC is an agency of the Supreme Court of Missouri, this is not a position with the State of Missouri.

LEGAL SECRETARY
The Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel (OCDC) is currently accepting applications for a full-time legal secretary. The successful applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), and must possess comprehensive knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment. One to three years of experience in legal office support work required.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are also essential, along with the ability to self-organize and work independently. This position requires the highest professional confidentiality and keen attention to detail. Duties include the preparation of correspondence, filing, data entry and maintenance of related information in an electronic database. Additional tasks include assisting with the preparation of legal documents and the filing of legal documents.
The OCDC offers a generous benefit package that includes insurance (health, dental, vision, life) and retirement benefits. The position is based in Jefferson City, but the OCDC currently offers employees the opportunity for some remote work. Annual salary range is $40,000-$43,000 depending upon experience.
